Friends of Griffith Park presents
Friends of Griffith Park presents an event for members interested in learning about plants in Griffith Park and how our ecosystems recover from fires. In November, 2018, 63 acres burned in Condor Canyon near Skyline Trail. Last spring Jorge led a hike to view the area and discuss the recovery. Now, a year later, plant resurgence of this area is even easier to observe. This will be a great follow-up hike for those who attended last year!
Please Note: This is an intermediate hike with most of the uphill at the very beginning of the trek. Bring a hiking pole if you have one! We also urge you to wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water and a hat. If you’re short on time, you can return to your car as you please.
If you plan on signing up, please do so soon. If you are not a current member, please renew before you register for your free ticket as this hike will fill up quickly. Remember, your membership helps preserve and protect this Urban Wilderness.
Jorge Ochoa is currently the Horticulture Department Chair of Long Beach City College and a frequent guest lecturer for FoGP. Ochoa is a rare instructor – one with the uncanny ability to make any subject interesting and easily understood. A former LA Rec and Parks employee, Ochoa now spends a great deal of his free time wandering through the vast Griffith parkland looking at flora, fauna and the relationship between animals and plants.
