On Sat., Sept. 28 2019 Friends of Griffith Park will conduct a mulching in the Bird Sanctuary section in preparation for a tree planting that will take place in the early winter (after the sweltering summer/fall is behind us).
The National Public Lands Day takes place one day a year and this volunteer effort connects the public to nature through service!
Friends of Griffith Park has been participating in the NEEF volunteer effort for a number of years, and with the help of volunteers has helped make Griffith Park a better recreational space for all Los Angelenos. This year will be no different as we tackle the Bird Sanctuary, an area in need of some TLC ever since the 2007 fire.
We’re asking that volunteers dress comfortably, wear clothing that’s loose and light and while we provide gloves and tools, if you have a pair of gloves that you absolutely LOVE, don’t hesitate to bring them. Please, no open toe shoes!
We’ll also provide water and munchies to keep you going, so hope to see lots of folks out for the morning!
